Because I’m always on the fence about my car. I’m not at jkm levels of hating it, but I'm constantly looking at other cars going "but what if I bought that?"

18 months in I still look back when leaving or get a surge of happiness when I walk back to it. I just think “Sheee et, that’s mine???”. There are other nice c ars which I eye, but much like that military mantra “This is my car, there are others....” I’m just happy with mine.

I had a Molten Orange ‘15 that I bought new in Aug ‘15. Modded it, loved it, I guess they’d say it was stage 2 w/ a cbe & MAP intercooler, also tuned by Tune+ for 93/E30. The interior being mostly plastic crap except for those wonderful Recaros got old, and I always want to drive something else - it was car #24 for me since 5/90.

I did want a Mustang GT, but I had a C6 prior to the FiST, and you can’t really stretch it’s legs without likely going to jail. And my wife is not into going fast, so there’s that.

I really wanted to buy a ‘15 WRX when I bought my FiST, but the FiST was a blast to drive, and I’d owned a ‘09 WRX a few years earlier

I ended up w/ a 17 ND Club as #25 - my 5th Miata (NA, 2 NBs, NC prior). It’s far from fast, but with a set of springs and an aftermarket tune (mostly gain power up top) and muffler I’m pretty happy. I have to keep it at least 5 years though, and I’m fine with that.

If I had to replace it, I’m not sure what I’d get. If I went for another hot hatch, I’d probably look at GTIs since their interiors are really nice. Or maybe one of the RF Miatas since it’s kinda noisy with the soft top even when it’s up. I’ve toyed with the idea of an A4, but I’m not sure I would not get bored with it, espeically since I am “stick 4 lyfe!” :)

I once looked into registering in the NWT... for a friend...

But at any rate they seem a bit loose with the polar bear plates. Like there might be a small roadblock if you don’t have residency, but other than that it seemed like anything would go.

I can see that. Oppo is more welcoming than a lot of communities but it has it’s own prejudices (maybe not the right word, it’s been a long day. ). Sometimes it seems like there are just as many posts shitting on certain cars and car cultures as there are appreciating them.

I mean, the car is pretty abused considering I do 500~ kilometres a week on crappy rural roads. So... it must feel pretty abused.
